Mead Jewelers is a name that has been a part of the Woodward community for years. Owned by Jay and Tiahni Mead, the business is a continuation of Jay's fatherís store. Mead Jewelers is located in downtown Woodward, Oklahoma on Main Street right off the intersection of 9th and Main. It occupies the building that once was Northup Jewelry. The building has been a jewelry store at the same location continuously since 1894.
Jay holds a diploma in Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America which he attained in June, 1982 while studying in residence. He also has a diploma in Jewelry Arts from the same school. Jay worked with his father, Stan, for several years and worked for various other jewelers. Jay spent 17 years with UPS working as a supervisor in Woodward and Ponca City. In July of 2005 Jay and Tiahni re-opened Mead Jewelers, concentrating on repairs and custom jewelry.
